Oggi, ancor più che in passato, il legame tra varie forme d’arte è particolarmente significativo. Gli artisti visivi, soprattutto giovani, mostrano non solo un interesse generico verso la musica: sovente gli stessi artisti son anche musicisti od almeno producono, per le proprie opere, bande audio con fare compositivo. Quest’intersezione tra discipline, assieme ad un certo mistrust verso manifestazioni d’arte sedicenti “con l’a maiuscola” son le caratteristiche del progetto L’arte è rock, il museo no che proveremo a realizzare con cadenza annuale.

Questo primo appuntamento vede nella stessa serata l’apertura della mostra personale Shining dell’artista abruzzese Gino Lucente e la performance live della band in cui egli suona a Milano, i King Tongue.
Lucente iniziò la sua attività esplorando differenti tecniche artistiche. Dotato di grande capacità di disegno, da tre anni lavora solo con la grafite su carta – anche di notevole dimensione – poi riportata su tavola, con risultati molto precisi, assolutamente personali. In contrasto col suo cognome (che non è inventato) le sue opere hanno sempre un che di cupo e volutamente ambiguo, traendo da soggetti pop – come il cinema western e noir – soggetti ed ambientazioni che sembrano sovente composte da fotogrammi sovrapposti. Come se fosse l’archiviazione sintetica, confusa e manufatta d’un intero film. Con giochi di luci ed ombre e trattamenti peculiari del soggetto-viso emerge quanto vi sia di mortale all’interno di un immaginario popolare, solo apparentemente vivido - appunto shining - cioè letteralmente lucente.

Passando ai King Tongue, il loro sound è fortemente rock, di matrice americana, interpretato con abilità da un trio completato dall’ottimo batterista - e designer - Bruno Cover e, alla voce e chitarra, da uno dei migliori critici italiani di arte contemporanea: Michele Robecchi.
Per il pubblico sarà un’occasione per scavalcare limiti disciplinari ormai desueti e vivere l’arte contemporanea in modo più diretto, per nulla paludato.

Today, even more than in the past, the link between the different art forms is particularly important. Visual artists, especially the young ones, show a not only generic interest for music: very often they are also musicians or at least compose the soundtracks for their works. This mixture between different disciplines, together with a certain mistrust towards self-declared art exhibitions with capital “A “, are the characteristics of the project L’Arte é rock, il museo no, which we will try to organize on a yearly basis.
This first appointment schedules on the first day the opening of Gino Lucente’s exhibition “Shining” and a concert of his Milanese band: the King Tongue.

Mr. Lucente started his activity exploring different art techniques. Very skilled in drawing, in the last three years he has been working only with graphite on plain paper – also in big sizes. The foils are then framed, granting a very precise and personal result. In opposition to his surname (which is not a nom de plume! – in Italian “Lucente” means “Shining”) his works always have something dark and ambiguous, taking from pop subjects, such as western or noir movies, characters and settings that seem often to be the result of overlapping movie frames. As if they were the brief, confused and hand-made record-keeping of a whole movie. With the use of shadows and lights and special effects on the portrayed faces, the morbidity of a pop subject becomes clear, as well as the fact that it is only apparently vivid – or shining- that is to say in Italian “lucente”.

For what concerns the King Tongue, their sound is strongly rock, with American influences. Together with Mr. Lucente, in the band play Mr. Bruno Cover (drumsr) and one of the best Italian contemporary art critics: Mr. Michele Robecchi.
For the viewers it will be an occasion to cross outdated disciplinary bounds and to experience contemporary art in a more direct and simple way.
