la mostra personale dell’artista Franco Donaggio.
La Joel Soroka Gallery di Aspen dedica la stagione espositiva
invernale al noto artista Franco Donaggio. Dal 15 Dicembre
2010 al 15 Aprile 2011 si potranno ammirare le opere del
recente lavoro “Prima del Giorno”.
L’autore, con la sua personalissima poetica, si muove con
acume all'interno di un mondo immaginario, piega la fotografia
agli intenti della sua ricerca di gusto surreale e crea immagini
di grande forza espressiva. Osservando le opere di Franco
Donaggio, in un imponente bianco nero di grande formato,
ci si sente più viaggiatori che osservatori, si percorre una
nuova via fatta d’ intense e strane sensazioni che vengono
da remoti luoghi interiori dell'artista, ardite costruzioni, luoghi
nati dall’intuizione, emozioni difficilmente esprimibili in
fotografia ed in questo lavoro rese evidenti, quasi prorompenti.
Donaggio crea un paesaggio che sembra nascere dalla
fantasia come dal desiderio, dove tutto assume una gran-
diosità affascinante, in tale contesto nulla di quanto vediamo
è reale, eppure la nostra sensazione è che lo sia.

Nel 1979 Donaggio si trasferisce a Milano e lavora nel campo
della comunicazione pubblicitaria come fotografo e graphic
designer. Diversi suoi lavori sono stati esposti in gallerie e
musei in Europa e Stati Uniti, altri sono presenti in collezioni
di fotografia pubbliche e private.
Ha ricevuto il ‘Kodak Gold Award’ Italiano per il ritratto creativo
ed il ‘Gran Prix Award’ per la fotografia di still life. L’autore
é rappresentato dal 1996 negli States e in Europa per la vendita
delle sue opere nel mercato del collezionismo.

Joel Soroka Gallery presents “Before the Dawn”, a solo
show of the artist Franco Donaggio.
The Joel Soroka Gallery in Aspen dedicates the winter exhibition
to wellknown artist Franco Donaggio. From 15 December 2010
to 15 April 2011 it will be possible to admire the works of his new
job “Before the dawn”.
Thanks to his most personal poetics, the artist moves with deep
insight into an imaginary world bending photography to the
purposes of his surreal-like research, and creating images which
are very powerful and expressive. In admiring Franco Donaggio’s
works in an imposing large-sized black and white, you feel you
are more a traveller than an observer, a traveller following a new
path made of intense and odd sensations rising from the artist’s
remote interior places which are eventually made visible. Places
that are built with intuitions, emotions, conjectures. Places that are
difficult to express through photography, but Donaggio succeeded
in making them manifest - somewhat irrepressible - in his work.
Donaggio creates a landscape that seems to spring from imagination
or desire, where everything assumes a fascinating greatness.
Here nothing looks real, even if we feel it is.

Chioggia (VE), Italy 1958
Donaggio moves to Milan in 1979 and works in the field of advertising
communication as photographer and graphic designer. Several of his
works were hosted in galleries and museums in Europe and the United
States, while others are part of public and private photographic
collections. He was the recipient of the Italian “Kodak Gold Award”
for the creative portrait and of the “Gran Prix Award” for still life
photography. He has been represented since 1996 in the States and
France for the sale of his works in the collection market.
