La Dorothy Circus Gallery, in occasione dell’inaugurazione della sua nuova sede a Roma, in via dei Pettinari 76, il giorno 5 Febbraio 2011 alle ore 18:30, con l’evento “Private Collection Carnival” riporta sulla scena dell’arte contemporanea la mostra “Pop Surrealism”, che ha avuto luogo con grande successo presso il Museo Carandente di Spoleto dal 26 Giugno 2010 al 15 Ottobre 2010.

In Mostra opere di alcuni tra i più importanti artisti del Surrealismo Pop internazionale. Tra loro saranno presenti i celebri ca- piscuola divenuti ormai icona stessa della corrente: Mark Ryden, Joe Sorren, Marion Peck, Camille Rose Garcia, Alex Gross, Ron English, Sas & Colin Christian, Kris Lewis, Ray Caesar, Jeff Soto, Travis Louie, David Stoupakis, Adam Wallacavage, Tara McPherson, MissVan, Lola, Nicoletta Ceccoli, Esao Andrews, Scott Musgrove, Jonathan Viner, Kathie Olivas, Natalie Shau, Mijn Schatie, Michael Page, Tim McCormick, Nathan Spoor, Paul Chatem, Ken Keirns, Ahren Hertel, Leila Ataya, Aaron Ja- sinski, Niba.

Attraverso le oltre 50 opere in mostra, ci inoltriamo nei flussi surreali di una pittura narrativa dalle meticolose inquadrature pro- spettiche, che riattinge alla tecnica pittorica classica ma rivolta le matrici paesaggistiche, domestiche e individuali. In perfetta sintonia con le radici surrealiste degli anni Trenta, le profezie figurative del pop si rigenerano in un costante movimen- to tra registrazione del reale e immediata rielaborazione onirica.

Si rivela quindi ai nostri occhi un nuovo mondo, a metà tra realtà e sogno, dove fanciulle dai grandi occhi e dagli esili corpi nascondono arcani segreti, e demoni disarmati e tristi giocano in atmosfere sospese con mostri ancora cuccioli, dove ogni cosa assomiglia al reale, ma lo trascende, narrando una mitologia nuova e antica.

La Dorothy Circus Gallery, già creatrice di uno spazio ai confini tra New York e il paese delle Meraviglie a partire dal 2007, che ha il merito di aver portato per la prima volta sulle scene dell’arte contemporanea italiana artisti del calibro di Jonathan Viner, Ron English, Sas & Colin Christian, Camille Rose Garcia, Alex Gross, Joe Sorren, Tara Mc Pherson, James Jean, Travis Louie e molti altri, alza oggi di nuovo il sipario sulla sua programmazione dedicata alle nuove tendenze dell’arte figurativa e al Pop Surrealismo, uno dei più vitali ed emozionanti movimenti di epoca recente.

La D.C.G. si conferma location ideale per ospitare l’animo surreale di questa seducente corrente artistica, grazie alla sua ancor più suggestiva nuova sede, nel cuore di Roma. Pur mantenendo lo stile magico del suo “Primo Circo” aggiunge ancora un tocco di lusso, vestendo di velluti bianchi l’Art Bookshop, reso unico dalla selezione di stampe limited edition e dei più rari Art Toys d’autore, dedicando alla sala espositiva una scenografia che ci immerge in un’atmosfera alla Alice di Tim Burton.

L’ingresso all’opening è strettamente risevato a Istituzioni, stampa, collezionisti e a chi è in possesso dell’invito con la chiave.

Dorothy Circus Gallery, on the occasion of the inauguration of its new venue in Rome, in Via dei Pettinari 76, the 5th of Februa- ry 2011 at 18:30, with the Event “Private Collection Carnival”, brings back to the Contemporary Art scene, the exhibition “Pop Surrealism”, which took place with great success at the Carandente Museum in Spoleto from 26th June to October 15th, 2010.

In the show works of some of the most important artists of the international Pop Surrealism. Through more than 50 works, we move in the flow of a surreal narrative painting with the meticulous perspective framing, which draws the classical painting technique, but turned to the individual and intimate lanscape matrices.

In perfect harmony with the Surrealist roots of the thirties, the figurative prophecies of Pop regenerate in a constant movement between the registration of the real and immediate dreamlike reworking. It then reveals us a new world somewhere between reality and dream, where girls with large eyes and slender bodies hide arcane secrets and helpless, and sad demons play with monsters still puppies in atmospheres suspended, where everything looks like the real but transcends it, telling a new and ancient mythology.

Dorothy Circus Gallery, already creator of an area on the border between New York and Wonderland from 2007, which has the merit of bringing for the first time on the scenes of Contemporary Italian Art, artists such as Jonathan Viner, Ron English, Colin & Sas Christian, Camille Rose Garcia, Alex Gross, Joe Sorren, Tara McPherson, James Jean, Travis Louie, and many others, raises the curtains today on its new program dedicated to new trends and Pop Surrealism, one of the most vital and exciting movements of recent times.

The D.C.G. confirms itself as ideal location to host the surreal mood of this fascinating Art, even more attractive thanks to its new venue in the heart of Rome. While preserving the magic of his “First Circus” style, adds a touch of luxury with its Art Bookshop dressed in white velvet, made unique by the selection of limited edition prints and the rarest Art Toys, devoting to the exhibition hall a scene that takes us to a Tim Burton Alice world.

Admission is strictly reserved to Institutions, press, collectors and those holding invitations with the key. The exhibition will then open to the public from 12th to 20th of February 2011 during the gallery opening hours: Tues. Wend. Thurs.11:30 to 19:30, Fri. Sat. 15:30 to 19:30 Sun. and Mon. Closed.
