Il Museo d’Arte della Provincia di Nuoro è lieto di annunciare la terza edizione del premio man_gasworks, rivolto agli artisti under 40 residenti in Italia. L’artista selezionato prenderà parte al Gasworks International Residency Programme e avrà l’opportunità di vivere e lavorare a Londra, insieme ad altri artisti internazionali, per un perio- do di tre mesi.

Gasworks è un’organizzazione d’arte contemporanea che ha sede a South London e che ospita 12 studi: nove riservati ad artisti residenti a Londra e tre al Residency Programme. Gasworks offre inoltre un programma di mostre, di incontri internazionali e di progetti educativi. Negli ultimi 15 anni, Gasworks International Residency Programme ha ospitato più di 170 artis- ti. Il vincitore del premio avrà l’opportunità, all’inizio del suo soggiorno, di tracciare le linee della sua attività con una conversazione introduttiva. La residenza si concluderà con un Open Studio, durante il quale l’artista presenterà gli sviluppi del suo lavoro a Londra. La natura della residenza, non prescrittiva e basata sui processi creativi, permetterà all’artista di sviluppare progetti durante tutto il periodo di permanenza.

Modalità di partecipazione

Per poter essere ammessi, gli artisti devono essere residenti in Italia e avere un’età compresa tra i 25 e i 40 anni. Il vincitore sarà designato da una commissione di esperti d’arte internazion- ale composta da: Cristiana Collu (Direttore del MAN), Alessio Antoniolli (Direttore del Gasworks and Triangle Arts Trust), Hans-Ulrich Obrist (Co-direttore di Exhibitions and Programmes e Direttore dell’International Projects alla Serpentine Gallery).

Gli artisti dovranno presentare: un CD o DVD con 5 lavori/progetti realizzati negli ultimi 5 anni, accompagnati da una breve descrizione (massimo 1 pagina). Il materiale fotografico dovrà essere presentato in formato PDF, spedito per posta entro e non oltre il 28 Aprile 2011 (farà fede il timbro postale) e inviato al seguente indirizzo: MAN_Museo d’Arte della Provincia di Nuoro, Via Satta 27, 08100 Nuoro.

Il 16 Maggio 2011, nel sito internet del MAN www.museoman.it sarà data comunicazione del vincitore. La residenza a Londra si svolgerà tra Ottobre e Dicembre 2011 e includerà vitto, allog- gio e uno studio presso Gasworks.

Award man + gasworks Residency

The Museum of Art of the Province of Nuoro (MAN) is pleased to announce the third MAN Award for a residency at Gasworks for an Italy-based artist under the age of 40. The successful candi- date will take part in the Gasworks International Residency Programme and will live and work in London for a period of three months alongside other international artists.

Gasworks is a contemporary art organisation based in South London which hosts 12 studi- os: nine rented to London-based artists and three dedicated to the Residency Programme. Gasworks also offers a programme of exhibitions, international fellowships and educational projects.

Gasworks International Residency Programme has hosted more than 170 artists over the past 15 years. The winner of the award will have the opportunity to give an introductory talk outlin- ing his practice at the beginning of his residency. The residency will end with an Open Studio, where the artist will present the development of his work in London. The non-prescriptive and process-based nature of the residency will enable the artist to develop projects during residen- cy time in London.

How to apply
Applicants must be residents of Italy and between the ages of 25 and 40. The winner will be se- lected by a committee of international art professionals: Cristiana Collu (Director, MAN), Alessio Antoniolli (Director, Gasworks and Triangle Arts Trust), and Hans-Ulrich Obrist (Co-Director, Exhibitions and Programmes and Director of International Projects at the Serpentine Gallery). In order to apply artists must submit the following: a CD or DVD with 5 works/projects carried out in the last 5 years, accompanied by a short description (maximum 1 page). The material must be submitted in PDF format, sent and postmarked no later than the 28st of April 2011 to: MAN_Museo d'Arte della Provincia di Nuoro, Via Satta 27, 08100 Nuoro.

Applicants will be notified by 16th May 2011. The residency will take place between October and December 2011. The residency includes accommodation, living expenses and a studio at Gasworks.
