Paintings and works on paper from 1914 to 1963. First retrospective of Giorgio Morandis work (1890-1964) in Portugal, displaying his production of paintings and works on paper. The exhibition, divided into genres and techniques, presents works from his early period until the sixties covering all landscape themes, flowers and still lifes in which are included the shells. His post-war activity deserves special mention in its variants from 1959 to 1964.

Paintings and works on paper from 1914 to 1963

First retrospective of Giorgio Morandis work (1890-1964) in Portugal, displaying his production of paintings and works on paper. 66 works will be displayed: 31 paintings, 6 watercolours, 9 drawings and 20 engravings. The exhibition, divided into genres and techniques, presents works from his early period until the sixties covering all landscape themes, flowers and still lifes in which are included the shells. His post-war activity deserves special mention in its variants from 1959 to 1964.

The engravings, watercolours and drawings all belong to the Morandi Museum Collection; the oils from the Museo Morandi, Uffizi and Museo dArte Contemporanea in Florence, Museo dArte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto (Col Giovnardi), Galleria Gian Ferrari, Milan, Galeria dello Scudo, Verona, Fondazione Magnani Rocca de Mamiano di Parma and private collections.

Catalogue: in both Portuguese and English published by the Fundação Arpad Szenes - Vieira da Silva. Critical texts by Claudia Gian Ferrari, Michael Semff and Peter Weiermair, with reproductions of all the works displayed, a biography, exhibitions and bibliography.
