The exhibit will attempt to link the contemporary visual, musical and performing arts practiced in Detroit. Participating artists were invited to create each work of art under this theme of link with works ranging in genre, size, style and material and with performing artists crossing genres into the realm of fine art and side-projects.
LINK, the exhibition, will take place from November 9 through December 22,
2002, with an opening reception on Saturday November 9 from 6pm-10pm.
The exhibit, which features 23 Detroit-based artists, will attempt to link
the contemporary visual, musical and performing arts practiced in Detroit.
Participating artists were invited to create each work of art under this
theme of link with works ranging in genre, size, style and material and with
performing artists crossing genres into the realm of fine art and
side-projects. We believe that the culmination of this work will act as a
dynamic representation of Detroit's contemporary arts, as well as serving as
a link throughout the area's arts communities.

The Org
The Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit (CAID), a community-based,
non-profit organization, was founded in 1978 by a group of Detroit artists.
A new Board of Directors, as well as several active members, have been
working behind the scenes to reintroduce CAID to the Detroit arts community.
The organization fosters and promotes the essential link between
contemporary arts and contemporary society through its exhibitions,
performances, critical and public discourse, and the funding of contemporary
arts and art-related activities.
