La Luna Gallery di Borgo San Dalmazzo è lieta di invitarla all’inaugurazione della mostra dell’artista Domenico Olivero, dal titolo “Candido, ma che domande fai?” che avrà luogo Sabato 16 Aprile 2011 alle ore 17,00 in via Roma 92 a Borgo San Dalmazzo (Cuneo).

Anticiperà, l’evento una breve conferenza sulla ideazione e costruzione della mostra che si svolgerà alle ore 16,00 presso la sala consiliare del comune di Borgo San Dalmazzo.
L’artista Domenico Olivero, ha ideato per questa occasione una mostra che trae ispirazione dal libro “Candido, ovvero l’ottimismo” scritto da Voltaire nel 1759.
Il progetto artistico è stato creato rielaborando tutto lo spazio della galleria, trasformato in un’opera unica che, traendo ispirazione dal testo, tratta della casualità degli eventi e della loro percezione individuale. Si crea in tal modo una continua sollecitazione di idee e pensieri, che rimandano al nostro vivere quotidiano ma anche a tanti altri stimoli culturali del nostro tempo.
La mostra colpisce per la varietà dei pezzi proposti, realizzati dall’artista spinto dalle diverse suggestione che i capitoli del libro hanno fatto crescere.
Le opere d’arte sono state realizzate come sollecitazioni aperte e contemporanee che più che descrivere il testo narrano delle ispirazioni o riflessioni che da esso se ne trae. Prendendo spunto dal testo l’artista ha elaborato una varietà di forme, disegni, immagini e riverberi che hanno le forme più particolari e ricercate.

Presentazione

“Candido, ma che domande fai?” è una mostra in cui le parole prendono forma producendo ottimistiche speranze.
Una serie di opere artistiche che lasciano alle percezione singola la possibilità di creare infinite variabili, nuove storie, probabili cambiamenti.
Un evento che nasce dalla magia di un racconto fantastico come il “Candido, ovvero l’ottimismo” scritto da Voltaire nel 1759, ma che risulta mai così attuale come in questo periodo di grandi cambiamenti.

Dove c’è vita c’è speranza e dove c’è ottimismo c’è odor di fregatura. Sicuramente il nostro caro Candido non doveva poi essere così trasparente se continua a lasciarsi trascinare di avventura in avventura, dalla padella alla brace. Ci sorge quindi il dubbio che possa essere anche ingenuo ma che sicuramente è molto fortunato o forse ha fatto un patto con la buona sorte.
Che strano personaggio questo orfano fortunato che passa da un disastro all’altro, avrà con se un pirandelliana patente? sarà l’amico del giaguaro? O alla fine null’altro che un semplice e annoiato essere umano?
Con questi dubbi e tanti altri pensieri l’artista ha avviato la costruzione di un evento artistico che prendendo le mosse dal testo si è trasformato in un particolare momento emotivo, in cui viene messo in discussione la percezione delle cose e la lettura che ognuno di noi fa di un determinato evento.
Diciamo che il dubbio del capire prende una sua forma, realizzata con piccole trasformazioni di manufatti esistenti o che sono stati creati per dare consistenza alle sensazioni. I lavori che l’artista ha prodotto diventano nuovi pensieri che, attraversati in esperienze fisiche, trasmettono e condividono possibili visioni, idee, emotività.

Breve intervista all’artista del curatore Tarcisio Dutto.

Tarcisio Dutto: perché il Candido, come mai questo libro del 1759, non è troppo lontano?

Domenico Olivero: Il fatto che sia stato scritto in secoli lontani è una conferma di come le cose importanti nonostante i cambiamenti estetici siano sempre le stesse. Il libro mi fu regalato tantissimi anni fa, in una bella edizione illustrata da Paul Klee, che lessi con molto interesse e allegria. Il personaggio ha diverse similitudini con me e con il mio modo, forse un poco più cinico, di vedere il mondo. Mi piace molto la sua ingenuità, la sua serenità nel vivere avvenimenti incredibili. Il suo approcciarsi agli accadimenti con continue sollecitudini, ma soprattutto la sua voglia di capire.

TD: le opere quindi sono direttamente ispirate al testo?

DO: non proprio, alcune lo sono in modo diretto, ma la maggior parte hanno preso forma nel periodo della lettura e quindi in una visione d’insieme del momento di riflessioni. Anche aperta alla casualità, di cui il testo stesso tratta. Sicuramente gli stimoli sono nati con la lettura ma poi liberati dall’esigenza descrittiva/illustrativa tentano di trasmettere una percezione sentimentale/emozionale su più livelli.

TD: come ha costruito la mostra?

DO: ho pensato allo spazio della galleria come ad un’opera unica in cui i diversi lavori venissero posti in relazione fra loro, ho pensato quindi di assemblare tutto il progetto in una rete di corrispondenze, suggerendo percorsi diversi che ognuno può a sua volta mutare.

La Luna Gallery in Borgo San Dalmazzo is pleased to invite you to an exhibition by Domenico Olivero entitled "Candido, ma che domande fai?” (Candide, why are you asking?) which will take place on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 17:00 in Via Roma 92, Borgo San Dalmazzo (Cuneo).

Anticipating the event, a short lecture about the construction of the exhibition will be held at 16.00 in the Council Hall in the town of Borgo San Dalmazzo.
The artist Domenico Olivero, has created this art event for an exhibition whose inspiration comes from the book "Candide, or Optimism," written by Voltaire in 1759.
The art project was created by re-arranging the entire space of the gallery, transforming it into a unique art work that draws inspiration from the text of the book by Voltaire. This creation is inspired by the randomness of events and their individual perception.
The works propose to create a continuous solicitation of ideas and thoughts that refer to our daily life but also the many other cultural stimuli of our time.
The exhibition is striking for the variety of the type of pieces, created by the artist who is inspired by the suggestion in the different chapters of the book.
The artistic project presents a contemporary sense of tension and is interpreted for today’s times.
The art works are developed in a variety of forms; drawings, images; photos, material objects and reflections that retain their original form and particular details.

"Candido, ma che domande fai?” (Candide, why are you asking?) Is an exhibition where the words take shape so producing a sense of optimistic hope.
A series of artworks that stimulate individual perceptions and reactions in the viewer creating infinite variables, new stories, and pleasant changes.
An event that was created by the magic of a fantasy storys suchas "Candide, or optimism " written by Voltaire in 1759, as true today as it was in the past.

Where there is life there is hope; and optimism where there is no doubt.
Certainly our dear Candide wouldn’t be so transparent if he didn’t continue to be drawn into one adventure after another, jumping out of the frying pan into the fire.
There arises therefore a doubt that he could also be naive, but he’s certainly very lucky or maybe he has simply made a deal with the devil.
What a strange person this lucky orphan is who goes from one disaster to another.
He was similar to Rosario in Pirandello’s novel “La patente”. A man who embodies and personifies the human condition.
The artist has begun construction of an artistic event which begins with the text, but then he transforms the whole event with a single work of art.
It is said that the question of understanding takes a form, created by small changes in existing structure or ones that have been created to produce evolving sensations.
the work that the artist has produced becomes a series of new thoughts, running across physical experiences, conveying and sharing all manner of ideas, and emotions.

Tarcisio Dutto: Isn’t Candide’s book, written in the 1759, too far back in time?

Domenico Olivero: The fact that it was written in the past is a confirmation of how important things are that were written and so becomes a contemporary narrative.
I was given the book many years ago as a gift.
It is a beautiful edition illustrated by Paul Klee. I read it with great pleasure and joy.
The character, Candide, has many similarities to me and my life. Maybe I’m a little more cynical in my approach to the world.
I really like his candour and his serenity in living and experiencing incredible events.
His approach to events is always to know everything with the on-going result of a worrisome situation; but above all there remains his desire for understanding.

TD: are the artistic works you made directly inspired by the text?

DO: Not really. Some deal in a direct way, but most have taken their form during the period of reading and then became an overview in the fullness of time.
They are also open to a certain degree of randomness, which is like the text itself.
Surely stimuli are born from reading, but then they are freed from the need to try to explain everything and to convey an emotional perception on several levels.

TD: How was the show developed?

DO: I thought of the gallery space as a single work with different art works placed in it.
They are related to each other; each art work to all the space.
Then I thought about assembling the entire project in a web of relationships, where everything works together and within the perceived idea.
