Possible Variations - works from the 1970s. Jan Kotik belongs to a small group of Czech artists whose work has its own position in the worldwide context. His artistic expression is very personal and with visible impatience to dogmas of all kinds. During World War II Kotik was a member of Skupina 42 - the group of painters, photographers, poets and theorists whose program was to return the world we live in back into artworks. He was occupied with Chinese calligraphy after the war which influenced his work significantly. Opening Tuesday, April 19, 2011, 5-7 p.m.
