In his exhibition 'Antiseptic Eldorado' Gorig presents closure within the constant circulation of evens and objects. These are enclosed and collected at relaxation places. His work is to be read and understood in a different way: It is a recreation and discovery of fluid at common beaches. 'Antiseptic Eldorado' illustrates a range of flotsam on drift lines which has been shaped by broken boats and is to be found at beaches: Objets truoves, after a fall, under glass.
Matze Görig (*1980) studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts under the eye of
Joseph Kosuth. In his exhibition “Antiseptic Eldorado“ he now presents closure
within the constant circulation of evens and objects. These are enclosed and
collected at relaxation places. His work is to be read and understood in a different
way: It is a recreation and discovery of fluid at common beaches.
„Antiseptic Eldorado“ illustrates a range of flotsam on drift lines which has been
shaped by broken boats and is to be found at beaches: Objets truovés, after a fall,
under glass. The functionless cotton swabs, aerosol cans, random packaging, plugs
and plastic material which cannot compost on the sand of the sea or the grounds
have been translated and assembled into recycled objects. Faded findings, of which
the parts lay next to each other, are to build a composition of machine trees. The
artist calls them end-products – the actual end-products. They are the opposite of
the ones which are actually said to be end-products and he reminds one of Adornos’s
thoughts on pieces of art which are found at the museum, the ones which have been
disposed on their way to complete destruction, the „Promesse du bonheur“.
Alongside, Görig presents a series of “bad quality” images which have not been
provided with lines. Cuttings and insertions taken from everyday life, unproblematic
passages of him in two dimensional pictures have also been found and included in
those images. Psychobuildings, empty stages, snapshots, things left behind,
scatterings of subjective importance. Translations of vain unimportance and the
empty spots in-between are associated with partially formal aesthetic narration.
Everyday goods are the bond which is presented through sculptures and images, image
and objects to-be, valorisations of the felt and found in exhibitions’ conformal
objects and arrangements. Anyone who makes an observation or transforms an everyday
object into a presentable item, a life into art, turns flotsam into precious
exchange value.
