The 150th Anniversary of the Italian Unification Celebrated Through Images
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Italy's Unification, FASI (Federazione Associazioni Sarde in Italia) organized a competition to celebrate the unified country through images. The exhibit features approximately one hundred works of art, forty of which will be exposed at Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimo' beginning on May 31, 2011. The artists express their evocative ability relating to topics such as the Unification, independence and freedom, the philological, poetic and political milestones of the Risorgimento, recalling, through illustrative narration, specific moments and characters of these 150 years of Italian history. The exhibit includes works of Chiappori, Cascella, D'Altan, Marcenaro and Staino, as well as the works of the fifteen prize winners. The works range from political satire to evocative works of art. Exhibition Opening: May 31 at 6pm.
