Entente Cordiale: Images from France and England. This exhibition combines Nick Turpin's recent work The French with Nils Jorgensen's street photography from the United Kingdom. Situated on the concourse of St Pancras International, London's gateway to Europe, images from both sides of the Channel question, explore and celebrate the long-standing relationship between the two nations. The exhibition consists of six large free-standing exhibition between the Eurostar entrance and the station entrance.
A joint show by two In-Public photographers: Nick Turpin and Nils Jorgensen, combining street photography from the UK and France at London's gateway to Europe, St Pancras International.
This exhibition combines Nick Turpin's recent work The French with Nils Jorgensen's street photography from the United Kingdom. Situated on the concourse of St Pancras International, London’s gateway to Europe, images from both sides of the Channel question, explore and celebrate the long-standing relationship between the two nations.
The premise behind Turpin's work is to document his love/hate relationship with France, his adopted homeland, while exploring the contrasts of modern France, a country balanced precariously between tradition and Americanisation. The work will also challenge French privacy laws, prohibiting the publication in France of street photographs taken in France. Jorgensen's photography explores the eccentricities of England, in particular London where he is based. His work takes a quietly reflective approach with gentle humour and witty observations.
The exhibition consists of six large free-standing exhibition devices which can be found on the station concourse between the Eurostar entrance and the station entrance opposite the German Gymnasium.
Nick Turpin was born in London, UK in 1969 and studied Art and Design at the University of Gloucestershire then Photography, Film and Video at the University of Westminster. In 1990 Turpin worked as a staff photographer with The Independent newspaper leaving in 1997 to pursue a career in Advertising and Design photography. In 2000 he founded the international street photography collective In-public. Turpin has taught and lectured on contemporary street photography at museums, universities and on TV and is delivering a street photography workshop as part of the festival. He has exhibited across Europe, the UK and USA. Books include Street Photography Now, Thames & Hudson, 2010 and 10 years of In-public, Nick Turpin Publishing, 2010

Nils Jorgensen was born in Denmark and educated at The King's School, Canterbury before studying photography at the West Surrey College of Art and Design. In 1992, after working for the Associated Press in East Africa, he joined Rex Features Ltd. where he still works today. In 2002 Jorgensen joined online street photography collective In-Public. He has exhibited in the UK and America, his work was featured in Thames and Hudson's Street Photography Now book and has recently been acquired by the Museum of London.
