During the same year, a scenic opera production was part of the program for the first time, La Calisto by Francesco Cavalli. This was followed by Jean-Philippe Rameau's Les Boreades (1999) and George Frederic Handel's Radamisto (2002); Acis and Galatea (2000 and 2005) and Ariodante (2003) by Handel were given concert performances. In 2007, Riccardo Muti became Artistic Director of the Whitsun Festival and placed the thematic focus on Neapolitan composers of the 18th century. Under his baton, the operas Il ritorno di Don Calandrino by Domenico Cimarosa (2007), Il matrimonio inaspettato by Giovanni Paisiello (2008), Demofoonte by Niccolo' Jommelli (2009), Wolfgang A. Mozart's Betulia liberata (2010) and I due Figaro by Saverio Mercadante (2011) were performed in scenic productions.
