With the exhibition urban_landscapes the Austrian Cultural Forum Washington and bäckerstrasse4 – plattform für junge kunst from Vienna present their first conjoint show of contemporary art at the atrium of the Austrian Embassy. The exhibition shows works by artists Thomas Gänszler, Alan Cicmak and Maureen Kägi represented by the platform and American artist Brandon Morse, represented by the Washington gallery Conner Contemporary Art. The four artists as well as the curator Silvie Aigner from bäckerstrasse4 – plattform für junge kunst, will be present at the show.
The urban_landscapes exhibition conveys contemporary art themes, that blend urbanity with the designs of landscape architecture and specimens of untouched nature. It brings together photography, video and sculpture in an artistic synthesis. Curator Silvie Aigner will open the exhibition and outline the interconnection of the artistic approach of the four artists.
bäckerstrasse4 - plattform für junge kunst was founded in 2008 by Gabriele Schober. The idea of the gallery is to provide aspiring, outstanding young artists with a platform, an international stage to introduce themselves and show their works. They have found their stage at the Austrian Cultural Forum Washington.
Washington-based Austrian DJ Redcrescent (real name Michael Rattinger) will accompany the opening party with his original and deep sounds, from ancient rhythm science to the newest global bass beats.
