12th Los Angeles International Photographic Print Exposition at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium
January 16 - 19, 2003

photo l.a. 2003, the 12th annual Los Angeles International Photographic Print Exposition, will be held January 16th-19th, at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 1855 Main Street, Santa Monica, California. This is the twelfth Anniversary of photo l.a. which has become a world class event.

The largest and longest running photographic art exhibition in the West will have seventy galleries and private dealers from over thirty cities as well as galleries from Denmark, France, the Czech Republic and Russia. The finest photographic art, from the earliest 19th Century photographic experiments to the most contemporary photography and photo-based art, will be exhibited for sale. This is an unparalleled opportunity for collectors, curators and photographers to view thousands of images from all over the world. Works by Ansel Adams, Diane Arbus, Eugene Atget, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Henri Cartier-Bresson,Andre Kertész, Robert Mapplethorpe, Man Ray, Weegee, Edward Weston and many others will be included. Over 6000 people attended last year's fair according to Stephen Cohen, organizer of the event.

BENEFIT RECEPTION - January 16th , 6-9pm
The opening night preview reception will benefit the Photographic Arts Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has one of the major collections of photography in the United States. Preview tickets are $40 each and ordering information is available at 323-937-5525

LECTURES & SEMINARS
Lectures will be delivered by photographers Bruce Davidson, Debbie Flemming Caffery, Lauren Greenfield and Jock Stuges. Reknown film director Wim Wenders will also lecture.
Bruce Davidson is a major figure in modern photography, having one the first grant for photography from The National Endowment for the Arts.
Debbie Flemming Caffery is best known for her poetic images of Louisiana, Portugal and Mexico.
Lauren Greenfield's new book, Girl Culture, will be excerpted by Time Magazine in October 2002.
The exhibition Girl Culture will tour museums around the country through 2005.
Jock Sturges'work, including his striking portraits of women and girls, are widely collected by both museums and private collectors
Wim Wenders is a world reknown film director and photographer. His most recent directorial effort was The Grand Hotel, shot on location in downtown Los Angeles.
Seminars will be hosted by collector Michael Wilson and curator Leland Rice. Both experts in the field, they will take a small group of guests through the exhibition before public hours.

All lectures are $5.00 and seminars are $65.00 and include a 3 day pass.
