Tuscany has a magical attraction for anyone with an eye and a feeling for the magnificent play of light in a breathtaking landscape. A considerably less well-kn
own aspect is that throughout history, many artists have chosen to live and work in Tuscany.
Studio Toscana is an initial contribution to making the specific artistic working circumstances of Tuscany better known.
What is it that contemporary artists are looking for in Tuscany? Are they seeking the tranquillity of the characteristic landscape, or are they actively in search of tradition? If so, how do these traditions relate to the contemporary character of the work of these artists? These questions have been a guide for our guest curator, Werner van den Belt, in initiating this publication and the exhibition of the same name at the Cobra Museum, With Studio Toscana.
