Yinka Shonibare talks about his work and the cultural legacy of post-colonial Britain with Ekow Eshun

sintesi del comunicato stampa

In this talk Yinka Shonibare MBE talks about his work and the cultural legacy of post-colonial Britain with cultural leader and commentator Ekow Eshun. Significant Voices is new series of talks presented by Iniva in which guest speakers in the creative and cultural world generate debate and space for different thought processes. Yinka Shonibare is known primarily for his figurative sculptures inspired by literature and art history, rendered in recognisably African fabrics. Shonibare's works bring together disparate cultural references and material to explore issues around colonialism and post-colonialism within the contemporary context of globalisation, as well as issues of national and racial identity and class and cultural politics. Ekow Eshun is a writer, cultural commentator and broadcaster. He was the former Director of the Institute of Contemporary Arts and appears frequently on TV and radio programmes.
