Gallery Talk on the modernist abstract sculpture and its lasting influence on contemporary art
Gallery Talk. Art Historian Michael Fried joins contemporary sculptor Charles Ray for a special walk through of David Smith: Cubes and Anarchy. The exhibition presents the artist's iconic late masterpieces to be continuations of his long-standing explanation of geometric abstraction. The show includes over sixty sculptures, drawings, and paintings, as well as rarely-seen sketchbooks and photographs. Fried and Ray, whose work has been featured in four Whitney biennials, will consider modernist abstract sculpture and its lasting influence on contemporary art.
