Dutch avant-garde in an international context, 1961 - 1966. Total installations, utopian models, historical objects, reconstructions, authentic films and photos
Dutch avant-garde in an international context, 1961 - 1966. It is the first comprehensive overview in the Netherlands of work by members of the Nul-group and international kindred spirits since 1965. Work of Dutch Nul-artists - Armando, Jan Henderikse, Henk Peeters, Jan Schoonhoven and herman de vries - will be displayed in relation to artists from the German Zero, the French Nouveau Realisme, the Italian Azimuth and the Japanese Gutai movements in the same time period. Total installations, utopian models, historical objects, reconstructions, authentic films and photos will show the unique history of an unparalleled international avant-garde. An exceptional aspect will be the attention devoted to the unrealized but legendary Nul-manifestation called Zero op Zee (Zero at Sea). Artists: Arman, Armando, Bernard Aubertin, Enrico Castellani, Gianni Colombo, Lucio Fontana, Hans Haacke, Jan Henderikse, Norio Imai, Akira Kanayama, Yves Klein, Yayoi Kusama, Walter Leblanc, Heinz Mack, Tsuyoshi Maekawa, Piero Manzoni, Christian Megert, Sadamasa Motonaga, Saburo Murakami, Henk Peeters, Otto Piene, George Rickey, Jan Schoonhoven, Shozo Shimamoto, Ferdinand Spindel, Atsuko Tanaka, Jean Tinguely, Gunther Uecker, Jef Verheyen, Nanda Vigo, herman de vries, Tsuruko Yamazaki, Toshio Yoshida, Michio Yoshihara, Yiro Yoshihara.
