Mobile Home is pleased to present the first solo exhibition at the gallery
of new drawings by Roxy Walsh.
For her exhibition at Mobile Home, Walsh will present her latest series of
large scale abstract works on paper. These will be accompanied by a 12'
x12' watercolour drawing directly onto the gallery wall.
Walsh's latest drawings are eloquent about the pleasures of looking and not
speaking - beautiful contemporary abstract speculations which take a delight
in colour, form and the formation of an abstract language. She is
poetically partisan towards the things in her paintings. Wrenched askew of
their context and shown singly or in part, images are bent almost into
symbols; recognisable and familiar, but hard to pin down.
Roxy Walsh received an Abbey Award in Painting at The British School at Rome
in 2000 and participated in The Triangle Artists Workshop, New York City in
2002. Recent exhibitions have included Mise en Scène at The Centre for
Freudian Analysis and Research, and Huckleberry Finn at Waygood Gallery in
Newcastle.
INFALLIBLE,In Search of the Real George Eliot, curated by Walsh,
will open at the Gallery at APT in April.
