The Stephen Cohen Gallery is pleased to announce three exhibitions of photographs, 'Jerusalem' by Didier Ben Loulou, 'Circus' by Kimberly Gremillion and 'ID 2000' by the photographic team Missirkov & Bogdanov. The gallery is located at 7358 Beverly Boulevard and is open Tuesday-Saturday 11-5 and by appointment.

'Jerusalem,' is a series of photographs by Didier Ben Loulou. Ben Loulou captures the spirit of the old city by seemingly trying not to. This is the Jerusalem as seen through the eyes of a child; very close up, intimate and warm. Although his technical expertise, command of composition and shadow and light is apparent, it's the almost naïve innocence of the work that's most compelling. These are images of experience, not pictures of a place. Didier Ben Loulou's has had numerous one-man shows in Israel and Europe. His photographs are in the collection of The Victoria and Albert Museum in London, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and The Bibliotheque Nationale de France, as well as many others.

Kimberly Gremillion's work is a series of striking black and white portraits of the circus and its players. Where Ben Loulou's work is a moment in time, Gremillion's images are out of time, singular moments captured during a performance. Because she focuses her attention on the shadows and the graphic quality of her subjects, it seems she has captured an invisible world, both ominous and magical, reminiscent of the work of Toulouse Lautrec. Gremillion's photographs are in numerous museum collections, including The Art Institute of Chicago, The Cleveland Museum of Art, and The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. Arena Editions will publish a monograph of her work later this year.

The team of Missirkov & Bogdanov produce cutting edge, conceptual photography, exploring society from both an international and an Eastern European perspective. In 'ID2000,' they set out to capture a portrait of their generation, and in so doing create an image of themselves. Missirkov and Bogdanov are cinematographers, photographers and the founders of the Bulgarian Photographic Association. Their photographs are in The Museum of Fine arts in Houston, The Museum of Photographic Art in Odense, Denmark, as well as in many private collections in The U.S.A. and Europe. They live and work in Sofia, Bulgaria.
