Portraits. L'artista presenta un gruppo di nuove fotografie di grandi dimensioni realizzate recentemente in Sicilia e nella sua citta' natale, Vancouver, in Canada.
For his third exhibition in Rome, Jeff Wall will present new portrait photographs in the gallery and recent work made in Sicily in our annex space.
Jeff Wall is one of the most influential artists working today and his impact on generations of younger artists is immense. His large-scale photographs, with their sweep of visual details and deep intellectual resources, convey a feeling for a specific moment in time as well as a grand and layered sense of history.
Jeff Wall was born in 1946 in Vancouver, Canada, where he lives and works. He has had retrospectives at Tate Modern (2005); Schaulager, Basel (2005); MoMA, New York (2007); The Art Institute of Chicago (2007); and SFMoMA, San Francisco (2008). Recent solo shows include the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen, Dresden (2010); Palais des Beaux Arts, Brussels (2011); and the Contemporary Art Center, Santiago de Compostella (2011). He has won various awards including the Order of Canada and the Hasselblad Prize.
