Contemporary art from the Hanck collection. It also includes important national and international positions, such as works by Dan Asher, Silvia Bachli, Georg Baselitz, Miriam Cahn, Felix Droese, Marlene Dumas and Thomas Scheibitz.
In 2008 the Neuss-based priest Wolfgang Hanck conferred to Museum Kunstpalast his extensive art collection comprising 1,800 works which he had compiled in the course of two decades, and which, with its works by nearly 400 artists, he considered to be concluded. While his main interest lay in works on paper including drawings since 1980 onwards, the collection also includes paintings, photographs and sculptures.
While he discovered many of the works in Düsseldorf and Cologne, the collection also includes important national and international positions, such as works by Dan Asher, Silvia Bächli, Georg Baselitz, Miriam Cahn, Felix Droese, Marlene Dumas and Thomas Scheibitz.
The current presentation of selected works also honours the commitment of the Friends association of Museum Kunstpalast, of which Wolfgang Hanck has been a member for years, as it is the Friends who generously provide the funds for the publication of the inventory catalogue of the collection.
The catalogue includes texts by Kay Heymer, Stefanie Ippendorf and Gunda Luyken, as well as an interview with Wolfgang Hanck
