The international group exhibition brings together works that bring the architecture sensually to life
With the rooms of Kunstmuseum Luzern, the French architect Jean Nouvel created an ideal form of the contemporary art museum, the perfect White Cube. The architect talks about the 'nudite' des espaces' and anyone visiting the museum will experience in person how difficult it is to find one's bearing in the extraordinary abstraction of the exhibition spaces: because Jean Nouvel's architecture creates spaces, but not places. The predominance of the artworks over architecture was thus supposed to have been ensured, but some works call for a specific room without which they cannot function. The international group exhibition Nouvelles boites! brings together works that bring the architecture sensually to life. Works, most of them installations, which only function in the architectural context, which are unconnected to one another, but which, in the staccato of the individual rooms, address the topic of the space itself. Works by Stefan Burger, Adrian Esparza, Eric Hattan, Jim Isermann, Bruno Jakob, Christian Kathriner, Kitty Kraus, Juan Munoz, Fred Sandback, Nedko Solakov, Allora & Calzadilla; curator Fanni Fetzer. Opening: 06. 07., 6.30pm.
