As part of its cultural mission of showcasing public collections, the Centre Pompidou-Metz has invited the Frac Lorraine (Fonds régional d’art contemporain - Regional Contemporary Art Collection) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Frac venues in France.
Over two hundred works from the photography collection of the Frac Lorraine will be presented in Galerie 3 at the Centre Pompidou-Metz, which will be plunged into darkness providing the visitor with a unique experience.
This exceptional presentation of a public collection will extend beyond the realm of the Centre Pompidou-Metz and into the City of Metz. Thirty-some « habitants-complices » (resident-partners) will provide insight into various works in an intimate and friendly setting on Sundays for the duration of the show.
Nearly sixty artists will be presented including Bernd and Hilla Becher, Nicholas Nixon, Roman Opalka, Peter Downsbrough, Willie Doherty, Hamish Fulton, Roman Signer, Gina Pane, Esther Ferrer, Joel-Peter Witkin, William Wegman, Marine Hugonnier, Eric Poitevin, Lee Friedlander, Balthasar Burkhard, etc.
The Frac Forever exhibition is a coproduction with the Frac Lorraine.
A brief presentation of 49 Nord 6 Est - Frac Lorraine
49 Nord 6 Est - Fonds régional d’art contemporain de Lorraine is both an exhibition venue and a collection compiled for the region. Convinced that art is not just spiritual and visual, the centre exhibits works that call upon the other senses: hearing, touch and smell, thus inviting the visitor to perceive art in another dimension. The Frac also offers a series of events (talks, performances, conferences, films, concerts, etc.) providing further means to explore its exhibition themes.
