The final Hood Gallery reception in Los Angeles coincides with the
mini film retrospective of Polk-a-Polk Productions screening at the
Winslow Garage.
Across the vast expanse of the Camaro's muscular hood a woman flies.
Her inane smile and the hugeness of her breasts defy the gravity of
her situation, or should that be the anti gravity!
She gracefully swan dives into the traffic and freeway system of Los
Angeles, totally tanned and enormously augmented, a natural match for
the Los Angeles we know from the personal classifieds and plastic
surgery advertisements of the LA Weekly, the Los Angeles of the
world's biggest porn industry, the Los Angeles of the Californian
blonde haired blue eyed beach girl.
However this woman is not simply advertising a very particular
Californian trope. Instead she parodies herself, her only SLIGHTLY
digitally enhanced physicality. Concurrently a jab is taken at the
phallic associations of the Hood Gallery's premises (a 1989 white
Chevrolet Camaro) through plastering it with breasts, so that rather
than being a muscle car it becomes a fat car (as breasts ARE mostly
fat) and in being made from fat automatically flaccid.

We are sad to announce that this is most likely the last exhibition
of this incarnation of the Hood Gallery. We want to thank all the
artists who exhibited on and people who 'attended' the Hood Gallery
over the last few years.
Thanks L.A and thanks America for bringing the world the muscle car!
