Transformation: a View on Chinese Contemporary Art

Istanbul Modern, Istanbul

In addition to being the 400th year of diplomatic relations between Turkey and the Netherlands, 2012 was also the 40th year of diplomatic relations between Turkey and China, as well as the Year of Chinese Culture in Turkey. This exhibition is held to honour the latter and offers a selection of works from contemporary Chinese art. Curated by Sun Feng, the show's theme is "internal and external transformation". Traditional culture and Chinese philosophy, new techniques, contemporary discoveries and innovative approaches are examined in 20 works by 15 artists such as Cao Jijan, Miao Xiaochun, Xu Bing, Feng Mengbo, Wang Dongling, and Liu Jianhua.
