7th edition. The fair aims to bring together the vitality of younger galleries with that of more established galleries, working both with recognized artists and tomorrow's high-potentials. Within six years, Slick Paris has become the French destination for discovering and supporting artistic talent.
For the seventh consecutive year, the SLICK contemporary art fair will be presenting in
Paris a selection of galleries known for discovering the latest talents, including artists
from both the emerging and established contemporary art scene. Harking from Ger-
many, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium and France, each gallery
has chosen to either place a spotlight on a group of artists in a group show, reveal
the work of one artist in a solo show, or present a unique large scale project prepared
especially for the fair (the Slick Projects).
This year, SLICK is taking over a new space located in the Marais, the city’s hottest
neighbourhood for contemporary art galleries – placing SLICK at the heart of the Pa-
ris’ art scene. Two steps away from the Picasso Museum, the fair will take place over
two floors and under the glass roof of the Garage, a modernist building from 1937,
located in a courtyard that is typical of the Marais’ working class past.
Over the next few pages, we will provide a thematic presentation of the fair through
different angles: in numbers, through a typology of the galleries presented in this new
edition, and by reviewing select works that will be presented.
Founded in 2006 by Johan Tamer-Morael and joined by Aude de Bourbon Parme, SLICK has a new artistic director since 2011, Laurent Boudier. Taking place in October, the Parisian contemporary art fair welcomes an average of 17,000 visitors who come to discover more than 200 artists.
Following two years at the 104 art space and two years at the Esplanade between the Palais de Tokyo and Paris’ Museum of Modern Art, the fair is taking over an old
Garage in the heart of the Marais neighbourhood.
