La Centrale for contemporary art, Bruxelles
DABA Maroc. The young Moroccan artistic fringe will create audio, video, performance and installation art. Politically engaged, their artistic languages connect with the public. They are invited to present new productions in connection with the City of Brussels.

The CENTRALE for contemporary art promotes and acts as a catalyst for the young Moroccan artistic fringe. In a country that is dominated by artworks that are framed or placed on a pedestal for interior decoration purposes, the artists invited here opt instead for freedom of form and medium. They create audio, video, performance and installation art (often using very limited means).
Well-informed about what is happening in international art, they are nevertheless interested in their near neighbours and in direct contact with current debates. Part of a social, economic and cultural reality, they respond with poetic and political works. Politically engaged, their artistic languages connect with the public. They place emphasis upon notions of work, workers’ rights, human rights, etc.
For DABA Maroc, Mustapha Akrim, Mohamed Arejdal, Younes Baba-Ali, Mohssin Harraki, Mohamed El Mahdaoui and Simohammed Fettaka, among others, are invited to present new productions in connection with the City of Brussels and its urban environment.
