The Opening of the new
MARTa Herford / Museum of Art and Design

The museum MARTa Herford (Museum/Art/architecture/ambience) in Herford will be opened in Autumn 2004. Architect: Frank O. Gehry (Guggenheim Bilbao); Artistic Director. Jan Hoet (head of documenta 9, ex-director of SMAK Gent). MARTa Herford will be one of the first museums in Germany to present the interfaces between art, design, fashion and architecture as a site for reflection and aesthetic articulation.

In the run-up to the official opening, MARTa Herford will be organizing three VIDEO EVENINGS on the museum building site, on 27, 28 and 29 June 2003, from 10 to 12 p.m. With video films by

marina abramovic.nicoletta agostini. joseph beuys. paolo chiasera. jan fabre. asta gröting. david hammons. bruce nauman. koen theys. martin walde

These video films will be shown outdoors, on the walls of the raw MARTa building.

Fourthcoming
In November 2003 MARTa is realizing a project in public space in Herford. At the same time an international press conference will be held in the pre-opening phase of MARTa Herford.

Visits of the building site
During the construction of MARTa Herford in 2003 and 2004 regular guided tours of the museum building site (Goebenstr. 4-10, Herford) are on offer for the interested public.
