This is a Landscape of Desire. The Danish video artist employs devices from the world of film to create a fantastic narrative, a kind of filmic magical realism. Watching his films is like taking a ride into an emotional landscape, where desire is the driving force.
The Exhibition is curated by Caroline Corbetta.
The Danish video artist Jesper Just’s (b. 1974) beautiful and visually alluring video works have won international acclaim and respect. Watching his films is like taking a ride into an emotional landscape, where desire is the driving force.
Jesper Just employs devices from the world of film to create a wordless fantastic narrative, a kind of filmic magical realism. The familiar language and inviting approachability of the film media draws the spectator into complex universes full of tension, based on encounters between people, between men and women, different generations and genders interacting at a range of selected locations.
HEART has followed Jesper Just’s development with great interest since 2003, when the museum acquired its first work by the artist; in 2005 HEART presented the artist’s first solo show in a museum setting. In January 2013 Jesper Just will return to HEART.
