curator Isabelle Malz
In cooperation with the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen is organizing the first – and long overdue – solo exhibition in western Germany of works by the internationally celebrated Turner prizewinner Wolfgang Tillmans (*1968 Remscheid).
The artist – who lives in London and Berlin – will be displaying his extensive and many-sided oeuvre, consisting of photographs, abstract paintings, table installations, videos, and artist’s books. His precisely configured composition will respond to the exhibition setting of the former Ständehaus, as well as to the superlative collection of the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen.
The exhibition Wolfgang Tillmans is produced by Moderna Museet (October 6, 2012 – January 20, 2013) in collaboration with Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen.
The Düsseldorf station is funded by Stiftung Kunst, Kultur und Soziales der Sparda-Bank West.
Each visitor will receive an artist’s book designed by Wolfgang Tillmans as part of the admission charge. The exhibition catalog, featuring a comprehensive essay by Tom Holert, can be downloaded from this site. (Starting with the beginning of the exhibition!)
