Aid & Abet presents WE OBJECT! our first major project of 2013 curated by artist Benedict Drew opening on Friday 15th March 2013 with a special evening preview on Thursday 14 March 2013 between 7-9pm.

For this exhibition Benedict has brought together an exciting group of contemporary artists working in diverse media with a particular interest in the bodies intersection with the object, with machines effect on the physical and how text and speech can unfold scenarios where the world and the body collide. WE OBJECT! will expand across the whole of Aid & Abet’s warehouse space and display works in video, performance, sculpture, sound, film, music and text, in order to reveal an intriguing and creative engagement with material, image and object.

This is a great opportunity to come and see new work by some of the most exciting artists working in the UK today.

Aid & Abet is an artist-led organisation that supports artists to experiment, take risks and innovate in their own practices as well as collaborate, engage and network with peers, providing a crucial bridge in the Cambridge visual arts ecology between studio practice and larger public institutions. Aid & Abet is a site for contemporary art that combines work, project, gallery and performance space allowing audiences and participants to engage with cross-disciplinary practices in both a creative and a critical way.

Benedict Drew (b. 1977, Kyneto, Australia. Lives and works in London) works in video, installation, sound and other media. A central concern for his practice is the desire to explore our relationship with technology, authority and control. He has frequently collaborated with a diverse mix of artists and musicians performing internationally including Tate modern, The Yamaguchi Centre for Art, Rotterdam Film Festival, Dundee Contemporary Arts, ICA and Performa 09 New York. He was Lead-artist for Chisenhale Gallery’s Propeller project (2012) and a LUX Associate Artist (11/12). In 2012 he was short-listed for the prestigious Jarman award.
