Over the past 16 years, Paris Photo has become a significant event for collectors of contemporary and modern art, photography professionals, artists, as well as for an ever-growing audience of art appreciators. Each edition is unique and brings together a distinguished selection of exhibitors with diverse collections focused on the photographic medium. A public program is also an important component of the fairs which is built around cultural events involving artists, art world professionals, collectors, and cultural institutions.

Enriched by the unique cultural environment of these two cities, Paris Photo offers its visitors an unsurpassed experience in two historic locations which bring together all the different trends in photography.

“SOUND AND VISION”
Curated by Douglas Fogle
The “Sound and Vision” program at Paramount Picture Studios will encompass a freewheeling discussion of the practice of image making in contemporary culture. It is composed of six artist conversations and a series of film screenings and video installations offering visitors multiple intellectual perspectives on the use of images - both moving and still.

THE CONVERSATIONS
The artist conversations will bring together two artists at a time and will be preceded by short conceptual meditations by a number of noteworthy curators on the relationship between still and moving images in the history of art and cinema. Two conversations will take place daily at the Sherry Lansing Theatre at the Paramount Pictures Studios from Friday April 26th through Sunday April 28th.

The addition of the moving image to Paris Photo Los Angeles allows for the exploration of a variety of artistic approaches thus expanding on the conceptual understanding of the photograph. A series of films and videos will showcase young practitioners in the field and focus on fallen masters of experimental cinema.
