Re:Location 5 is an international project prepared by Jan Koniarek Gallery
in cooperation with O.K Centrum for Contemporary Art in Linz. The project
emphasises the dynamic and active process of communication between two or
more positions, institutions, geographical locations, and social situations.
During the residency in Slovakia Austrian artist Mario Sinnhofer continued
his investigation on soccer: he interpreted the rectangular pattern of the
old town of Trnava, surrounded by the medieval city wall as a pitch and
transformed the citymap into a playground through taped (soccer) running
performances. Emoke Vargova works with the historic pattern in another
context - uncovering different layers of paint on the walls of former school
in Linz that serves now as an art center in the project called Schoner
Wohnen.
The first period of the common project Re:Location 1-7 (April 2002 - April
2004) consists of a series of seven bilateral projects realised by art
institutions, which have joined together to form the "Art Centres of Europe"
network. This project is a team work of seven institutions from France,
Austria, Rumania, Luxembourg, Poland, Switzerland and from Slovakia. During
three years each of these partners organise two exchange projects including
residency stay of the artists that take into concideration the gained
experiences in the specific country.
Second period Re:Location Shake will be realised during April - October 2004
at each art centre.
The project is supported by the program of European union Culture 2000 and
Austrian Cultural Forum in Bratislava.
Opening: on Thursday, October 9th 2003 at 8 p.m
Duration: 9/10 2003 - 9/11 2003
