Cercles et Carrés (Circles and Squares) exhibition
Aubagne will host the first “travelling” museum in the world: the Centre Pompidou Mobile. It will display masterpieces from the permanent collection of the Pompidou Centre in Paris, Europe’s premier collection of modern and contemporary art. Cercles et Carrés (Circles and Squares) invites viewers to discover geometric shapes in 20th and 21st century art. Featured artists include Marcel Duchamp, Vassily Kandinsky, Frantisek Kupka, Victor Vasarely, Daniel Buren, Dan Flavin and François Morellet. Simple, universal shapes take on a sense of movement in paintings and sculpture. Designed by architect Patrick Bouchain, the Centre Pompidou Mobile is made up of units inspired by the shape of circus tents.
