Self-Seeker. Latest sculptures against the backdrop of his selected projects from the last decade
The work of Olaf Brzeski conveys as one of the most intriguing artistic phenomena on the Polish contemporary art scene. The various configerations of his works take place between the poles set by the adherence to the classics and risky experiment, sculpture and drawing, monstrosity and attaining realism through the grotesque, illusion and candor, visionary imagination and the truth of the material, desire and its fulfillment in art work. The exhibition "Self-Seeker" presents Olaf Brzeski's latest works against the backdrop of his selected projects from the last decade, attempting to take a comprehensive look at the practice of one of Poland's most interesting contemporary sculptors. At the same time, "Self-Seeker" is a narrative about looking at oneself, and the ambiguous image such a self-examination produces. The exhibition comprises several interlaced themes. One of those is a story about the metamorphoses of forms, materials, and modes of depiction in Brzeski's practice. Curator: Stach Szablowski. Opening of the exhibition: June 21, 2013 at 6.00 p.m.
