Mikhail Chernyshov’s art has yet to be fully studied as there are currently only a handful of articles in catalogues and in the press.
This exhibition, featuring works from the artist’s family collection, is another occasion to analyze and interpret his artistic soul searching as he strived in his thematic series to achieve the synthesis of technological design, geometric abstraction, and figural texture peculiar to pop art.
The exhibition will present works created by the artist between 1981 and 1993 in New York and brought to Moscow for The Predecessors of Russian Pop Art (Roginsky, Turetsky, Chernyshov) exhibition at the Central House of Artists but never actually shown. Pop art, symmetrical compositions, geometry, remakes of 1961–63 works are all executed in various techniques: graphic art, collage and four-canvas.
