So Far So Good. 130 paintings and drawings have been selected
So Far So Good. The work of Belgian artist Walter Swennen (b. 1946, Vorst/Brussels) is the subject of a major exhibition at the museum. Swennen has built an impressive, uncompromising body of work that has found its unique place amongst artists, making him to be one of the most innovative artists working today. The selection of works being shown at Wiels ranges from the early 'written' paintings, or 'painted writings', of the late 70s, through to paintings produced around the time of his official 'acceptance' in the early 1980s, and brings the story up to date with a group of his most recent works. In total, some 130 paintings and drawings have been selected. Curator Dirk Snauwaert. (Image: Inner, 2006. Oil on canvas). Opening: 4.10.2013, h 6:30 p.m.
