Opening reception for the artist on Friday November 7th, 7 – 9 pm

Martin Doerbaum is showing a number of architectural designs located in imaginated landscapes. Designed by the artist himself these buildings are represented as computergenerated line drawings transformed into aluminium engravings and black/white lambda prints.

Passing a labyrinthic garden sited on terraces which soared up the hill in a gentle line one got to an enclosed lawn which opened the view to the villa. Cuboids of stone and different sizes composed a form which were contrasting to the cloudless sky. None of the photographs we have ever seen before from this building was able to illustrate the sharpness of the outlines rudimentary. On the exterior wall of the spacious entrance, engraved initials reprehended to the estate's former owners. A maze of stairs leaded through the parts of a structure. Rooms and further stairs branched off from both sides. The walls, the floor, the drawing-room's ceiling which we finally trod were painted in dull grey. It harboured an ensemble of different chairs grouped around table and was disposed of any decorative. A wide corridor led to the pool. Through windows reaching up to the ceiling, which were flushed to the floor at this moment, we reached the terrace. Framed by two facing walls, one could have a first look at the city being at our feet and the preliminary bay. Stairs led downstairs to the sea. Having reached the quay, we entered the boat and we set sail.
