Beautiful, melancholy, adroit, haunting, and contemplative are some of the words often overheard while people are discussing the artwork of Lordan Bunch. Lordan continues his investigations into contemporary portraiture derived from found photo-booth photographs, passports and various scientific or medical journals from the turn of the century.

Lordan
continues his investigations into contemporary portraiture derived from
found
photo-booth photographs, passports and various scientific or medical
journals from the turn of the century.
Scouring thrift shops and markets for inspiration, these once forgotten and
discarded sitters are resurrected. Lordan's deftness of hand adds life and
color to these
otherwise anonymous individuals causing the viewer to ponder the thoughts of
the sitter
as well as themselves. Herein lies the mysterious beauty of these
paintings-
we are as fascinated by the subject as they are with us.
Lordan Bunch was born in 1967 in North Carolina and lives and works in New
York City.
