This exhibition will present the acclaimed South African artist's animated films, drawings, and performance work from 1989 to the present. Through a potent combination of modesty and satire, Kentridge's work traces characters shaped in turn by the political turmoil of South Africa, European culture, and by the artist's own history and identity. Co-organized by the New Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago.
