Reality Flickers. The artist's first solo exhibition with the gallery. Death, sex, loss and sculpture collide in her new installation. The melodrama began with an encounter between Reality Flickers, and the Heart Beast.
Motinternational London are delighted to announce Katrina Palmer's first solo exhibition with the gallery. Death, sex, loss and sculpture collide in Palmer’s new installation. The melodrama began with an encounter between the protagonist, Reality Flickers, and the Heart Beast, otherwise known as ‘the dog’, ‘the fucker’, ‘the trickster’. All that remains is a retrieved steel locker and the reverberant narrative in its walls.
Katrina Palmer (b.1967) was recently awarded the 2013 Artangel Open Commission, for a new project which will excavate an undisclosed place in England through writing and installation. She is also the author of The Dark Object, a series of connected stories about power relations in a fictional art school. Through published stories, live readings and installed recordings, she proposes extended forms of writing as sculpture.
Additional forthcoming projects include a live event commissioned for the 2014 Whitstable Biennale and a new book, The Fabricator’s Tale, to be published by Book Works in spring 2014. Previous exhibitions include 21st Century, Chisenhale Gallery, London (solo: 2013); From Morn ‘Til Midnight, Supportico Lopez, Berlin (2013); Orpheus Twice, David Roberts Art Foundation, London (2013); The Weight of Living, Motinternational, London (2012); Transmission Gallery, Glagow (2011).
