Unsettled Work
Spruth Magers Lee is delighted to present an exhibition of work by Peter Fischli and David Weiss. The Swiss duo recently won the Golden Lion award at this year's Venice Biennale for best work exhibited in the International Exhibition. Since 1979 they have collaborated to produce important works in numerous formats, including photography, video, film, installation and sculpture. This exhibition will exemplify their wide use of media.
The show will present one new and previously unseen piece, An Unsettled Work.
This projection twists perceptions by creating a kaleidoscopic merging of the worlds of fantasy and reality, consciousness and unconsciousness.
From this, a new world of unsettling surreality emerges within the viewer, as he/she is both fascinated and appalled by the merging of high and low, order and disorder.
Such an effect can be said of the exhibition as a whole. A number of the works have been in a state of unresolved metamorphosis for the last ten years. Here, they are presented together for the first time, provoking an unsettling effect.
Works by the artists can also be seen at our booth at the Frieze Art fair in Regents Park, from 17th to the 20th October.
Private view (in the presence of the artists): 9th October, 6 - 8pm.
