Gregory Burns in China 1984-2014

I paint my way back to understand ancient times when dancers and artisans entertained important men who rallied around the chosen God-King. China and I have changed markedly since our first flirtations in 1984 but we both were eager to learn. Hard work and sacrifice define these changes and with it comes the confidence that sets trajectories for new dreams and destinations.

Connecting the dots of past, present and future into art for Today has been my mantra. Like the student upon graduation, the clearing after the storm, the country around which I have circulated for over thirty years and I now head boldly into the future with some sense of accomplishment and closure. With this come poise and hopefully a level of grace that will empower us to raise water levels so that all boats may drift freely. Now, charting new courses, we must all paddle on.

The journey continues.
