The exhibition 'Wings of Art' explores the complex symbolism of the motif 'airplane' in contemporary art, spanning from the display of micro- and macro worlds, the experience of unlimited freedom and the boundaries of what is technically feasible, to the dreams of a united world and visions of human failure and standstill.

The exhibition 'Wings of Art' explores the complex symbolism of the motif
'airplane' in contemporary art, spanning from the display of micro- and
macro worlds, the experience of unlimited freedom and the boundaries
of what is technically feasible, to the dreams of a united world and visions
of human failure and standstill. What makes up the attraction of Wings
of Art is the broad spectrum that the motif 'airplane' offers, the often
surprising ways in which it is handled, the field of tension between ironical
comment and technological admiration, but also between innocent toy and
military instrument of destruction.
Wings of Art is a common project of the Ludwig Forum für Internationale
Kunst and Kunsthalle Darmstadt. A catalogue will be available.
