Inaugural exhibition with more than 50 works from the Gianni Mattioli Collection
The inaugural exhibition includes more than 50 works by Depero (1892-1960), who has not been given such an extensive show in New York since he lived here in the 1920s. The works are all drawn from the Gianni Mattioli Collection, which, as you may have guessed, was compiled by the father of CIMA founder Laura Mattioli. The choice of a Futurist for the Center's first exhibition is no coincidence, as the Mattioli Collection is also loaning a number of works to the Guggenheim's museum. Feb 21, 2014 10:00a.m. in conjunction with the opening of its inaugural installation, the Center for Italian Modern Art (CIMA) is pleased to present its first public program - a Study Day dedicated to the Italian Futurist Fortunato Depero. Reception for the exhibition 6:30-8:00pm.
