Reception with the artists: Wednesday, January 14; 6-8 p.m.
Exploring the dynamics of communities, the 2004 Winter
gallery exhibition at LMCC's One Wall Street Court features
a group show organized by NURTUREart Non-Profit, Inc-a
past re-grant recipient of LMCC's Fund for Creative
Communities. From their portfolio registry of over 400
artists, NURTUREart assembles works that offer a snapshot
view of the diverse backgrounds and concerns of its creative
community. The paintings, sculptures, drawings and
photography-based works look at a range of personal and
collective experiences and interactions, which vary widely
from psychological interiors to architectural environments.
Exhibiting artists are: Seongmin Ahn, Kristin Anderson,
Brandon Ballengée, Tim Blum, Mariestella Colón-Astacio,
William Crow, Ula Einstein, Jennifer Formica, Carla Gannis,
Ben Goldman, Rebecca Hackemann, Shelley Haven,
Nicholas Knight, Eliot Lable, David Lantow, Eva Lee,
Nina Levy, Karen Marston, Robert Martinez,
Patrick Meagher, Eva Melas, Tom Moore, Hee Jun Park,
Jack Pospisil, Elizabeth Riley, Maria Spector,
Deborah Wasserman.
Concurrent with the anniversaries of LMCC at thirty years and
NURTUREart at five, the exhibition will also feature a site-specific
mural by artist-director Robert Martinez. Created for
In the Face of Others, this work weaves the timelines of
both organizations with the artist's own personal memories
as well as the history of LMCC's location at One Wall Street
Court, formerly the old New York Cocoa Exchange.
