3 Aird's Lane, Glasgow, G1 5HU
Fri 4 April - Sat 7 June 2014

The Modern Institute are delighted to present the first solo exhibition in Scotland by New York based artist Anne Collier. For Glasgow International Collier will be presenting new photographic work, drawing upon her continued investigation into perception and representation, the nature and culture of photographic images and the mechanics of the gaze. Collier’s works are informed by technical and commercial photography and present a spatial ambiguity that explores the tension between what is depicted and the nature of its depiction.

Anne Collier (b. 1970, Los Angeles) lives and works in New York.

Selected solo exhibitions include: Marc Foxx Gallery, Los Angeles (2013); Anton Kern Gallery, New York (2012); High Line Art (billboard commission), New York (2012); Covi-Mora, London (2011); Nottingham Contemporary, Nottingham (2011); ArtPace, San Antonio (2009); and Bonner Kunstverein, Bonn (2008). Collier has participated in numerous group exhibitions internationally, including those at: Museum of Modern Art, New York; Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao; Kunsthaus Bregenz, Bregenz; Palais de Tokyo, Paris; and Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Collier has an upcoming solo exhibition at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago in 2014.
