Photo Archives by Gerard Malanga. This exhibition showcases New York's underground scene from the 60's the pop years. Its main characters are celebrated through these records and also the superstars.
50 years after meeting Warhol, Gerard MALANGA shares his photographic archives.
To celebrate the 50 years of the creation of the Factory, B.K.W. Gallery presents an outstanding exhibition with photographies taken by Gerard MALANGA, photographer, but also poet, filmmaker and emblematic person of Andy Warhol’s Factory.
This exhibition showcases New York's underground scene from the 60’s the pop years. Its main characters are celebrated through these records (Dennis hopper, Patty Smith, Robert Mapplethorpe, The Velvet Underground, etc.) and also the Factory superstars (Andy Warhol, Nico, Bob Dylan, etc.). These portraits were taken on the spot by one of the closest person to the Pop Art master in the beginning of the Factory.
In fact, Gerard Malanga will express this relationship: «Andy and me, we were a mirror to each other».
50 ans après sa rencontre avec Warhol, Gerard MALANGA ouvre ses archives photographiques.
La B.K.W. Gallery présente une exposition exceptionnelle de photographies de Gerard MALANGA, photographe, mais également poète, cinéaste et figure emblématique de la Factory d'Andy Warhol pour célébrer en 2014 les 50 ans de la création de la Factory.
Cette exposition est un véritable témoignage de la scène underground New Yorkaise des années 60 et des années pop. Ses principaux protagonistes y sont immortalisés (Dennis Hopper, Patty Smith, Robert Mapplethorpe, les Velvet Underground etc.) et notamment les superstars de la Factory (Andy Warhol, Nico, Bob Dylan, etc.). Ces portraits furent saisis sur le vif par celui qui fut l'une des personnes les plus proches du maître du Pop Art au début de la Factory. Gerard Malanga dira d’ailleurs à ce sujet : « Andy et moi étions comme un miroir l’un pour l’autre».
