Nothing Between Us
East Los Angeles, CA ÂInez Fine Art will present the exhibition Nothing
Between Us featuring works by Bay Area artist Omar Lee. At once representing
bewilderment and meticulous composure, the mixed media works stitch together
the detritus and ephemera of outdated pop culture with the glue of
illustrative intent. Re-contextualizations of images from chart
illustrations of India wander within the confines of their stylized
environments, flat landscapes seeded with text. The relationship between
text and image, in the format that we recognize as straightforward
storytelling, comes unglued within a hyperbolic world of teenagers, fruit,
robots, empty cartons, and highly unrealistic shrubbery.
